He was carrying a blue bag with an elephant design.

Etan's name is pronounced "Ay-tahn" and his last name rhymes with "gates".
Circumstances of Disappearance:
Unknown. His photo is shown age-progressed to 17 years. On the morning of Friday, May 25, 1979, Patz left his SoHo apartment in New York City at approximately 8:00 a.m. to walk the two blocks to catch the school bus in New York City at Prince Street and Wooster Street at approximately 8:00 a.m.  It was the first time he had walked to the stop on his own.  He never reached the bus stop, and has never been seen again. In November 2012, Pedro Hernandez was formally charged with Etan’s kidnapping and murder. Etan has never been located.  He was declared legally dead in 2001.
