Circumstances of Disappearance: |
Unknown. Spira was last seen at approximately 7:00 p.m. at his office in the vicinity of North Avenue and Country Farm Road in West Chicago, Illinois. His last cell phone call was made at approximately 7:00 p.m. He was supposed to meet someone for dinner and never showed. His truck was located later, still parked at his office. He left behind his flight gear and both his cars. Spira played guitar with the Rabble Rousers, a blues band, at the time of his disappearance; the band was well known in the area and played frequently. He also owned a utiity cable company, Universal Cable Construction, in West Chicago and was very active in local community affairs. He is a United States Army veteran and is a licensed pilot. Seven months after he was reported missing, the cable construction business burned to the ground. A few days prior, a huge missing person's billboard featuring Spira was erected directly across from the company building. The billboard was intentionally removed. His family replaced it, but it too, was torn down by persons unknown. His case remains unsolved. |
