Ellabeth was last seen at her home on Indiana Avenue in Sioux Falls on the evening of March 6, 1974. Her co-workers told her estranged husband that she had not reported for work, and he went to her home. he found a loaf of bread rising in the kitchen, flour spilled on the floor, and a fresh pizza with one piece missing. Her car was in her driveway, the house was locked, and nothing was missing except her coat and purse. She has never been seen or heard from again. In September 1974, Ellabeth’s credit cards were found at a bus depot in Canada. In April 1992, a farmer found an old bag along the Big Sioux River near Highway 42 with Ellabeth’s wallet and checkbook inside. Foul play is suspected.
